Tenth house Mars and what does it mean for you – Sagittarius and Capricorn ascendants

Free Vedic astrology article.

Continuation of the previous Blog

Sagittarius
Mars rules over the fifth and twelfth houses but mainly gives results of the fifth house. A strong Mars gives a good amount of wealth.

Mars completely represents the son or daughter in this case. Any affliction to Mars will show as a disease in the progeny. The limb affected will depend upon the placement of Mars and the house he is placed. Similarly if in the horoscope, any one planet is extremely weak and afflicted, it denotes a disease in that organ of the son over which that planet has ruler ship. For example any affliction to Venus will show as some problem connected to face.

Mars in the tenth house for Sagittarius ascendant gives a Raj Yoga. One acquires landed property, earns the goodwill of the ruling class, constructs temples and performs religious services. One of the children achieves enviable fame and stature. Aspect of Sun will connect him to intelligence and espionage. Affliction to Mars gives troubles caused by ruling class.

Such a person is self confident, worthy of honor, learned, indiscriminate, deceptive, boastful and little or no marital harmony. He is a charming speaker and is fond of bathing, dressing up and looking splendid at all times.

Mars makes one materialistic, ceremony minded and fond of participating in Yagya etc. He is a land owner and has fear from enemies.

Capricorn

Mars becomes the fourth and eleventh house lord. If strong he becomes instrumental in the acquisition of property and gains there from. As lord of the house of mind and ideas, Mars also creates an angry mind. Such a person flares up at very little provocation.

Aries falling in the fourth house completely represents the mother and if a planet is weak and afflicted there is problem in that limb of the mother of the individual over which the afflicted planet has lordship. A strong Mars indicates long life for the mother of the native. Opposite is also true.

The influences on Mars, the fourth lord (lagna for the mother) and the eleventh lord (eighth from fourth or the house of longevity of the mother) will determine the mode of death of mother)

Mars in the tenth house gives political and professional success. One earns well and becomes wealthy. There is a keen interest in chemistry, and one may be an expert chemist. Such a person destroys enemies and becomes famous. Afflicted fourth lord causes loss of social respect.

Mars gives a tall and well built body as well as a fair complexion. He also gives self confidence and soaring ambition. Such a person is kind, gentle, boastful and deceived by women. His speaking ability is good.

Tenth house Mars and what does it mean for you – Libra and Scorpio ascendants

Free Vedic astrology article.

Continuation of the previous Blog

Libra

Mars becomes the lord of the second and seventh houses for Libra Ascendant, but according to the rules laid down by Parashar, he primarily gives the results of the seventh house.

A strong Mars gives wealth and a long living wife. Manual dexterity and logical thinking are also the gifts of a strong Mars. One gains from in-laws and is particularly happy in his youth. Weak Mars gives losses through bad advice and bad judgment in business. The spouse in such cases is short lived. The mode of death of wife will be determined by planets afflicting Mars.

Mars in the tenth house gets an individual respect from even elders and superiors. Learned and logical, he and becomes wealthy through self effort. If Sun and Moon are placed in strength a person will have a number of profitable businesses. The business may be connected to foreign travel. One may own a travel agency or even an airline.

There is a marked interest in philosophical studies and one may deliver discourses on it. The Nakshatra held by Mars determines the nature and source of earnings. Affliction to Mars reverses everything mentioned above.

Scorpio

For Scorpio ascendant Mars becomes the owner of ascendant and the sixth house. One is generally aggressive, self willed and not much interested in walking the straight and the narrow path. Not much persuasion – if any – is required to use unfair means to achieve the desired end.

A strong Mars gives victory over enemies. He also gives happiness from parents and many brothers. One is well built, materialistic, well behaved and fair looking. Rich, happy and famous, he commands a number of fine vehicles. If Saturn is strong, one acquires vast real estate especially through maternal relations. There is professional success and honor from eminent men.

Due to the sixth house lordship of Mars, there is also a downside to all this mentioned above. A person may display dual behavior. He may profess to be pious and spiritual but may in reality be a wolf in a sheep’s clothing.

However if Saturn is located in the sixth house, then Mars as the sixth lord and as lord of the sign occupied by Saturn becomes a strong Karak of theft and makes the individual an expert thief. If the lord is weak, it gives dismissal through powerful enemies in professional life. The native has a low level existence.

Mars as lord of Aries here denotes the uncle. Which ever house lord is afflicted from the sign Aries, that part of mother’s younger brother will be affected.

Tenth house Mars and what does it mean for you. Leo and Virgo ascendants

Free Vedic astrology article.

Continuation of the previous Blog

Leo

Mars becomes the lord of the fourth and the ninth houses. Simultaneous lordship of a Kendra and Trikon house raises him to the level of a Yog Karak. If strong, Mars gives high quality affluence and power during his sub periods. Such a native also gains from real estate. There are gains from father as well. A weak Mars causes early death of father. An afflicted Mars also denotes trouble in the scrotum of father as Mars becomes the lord of the eighth house and eighth sign from the house of father.

Mars in the tenth house gives political success, high status, fame and power. One is generous and large hearted. Such a person destroys enemies and becomes famous. One earns much wealth and enjoys every comfort.

Mars in tenth house gives a rough body, and makes one unusually sensual. One likes magic and sports, and is selfish, unprincipled, and influenced by women. His domestic life is unhappy.

Afflicted fourth lord causes loss of social respect.

Tenth house Mars also gives an interest in chemicals and their use, and can make one an expert chemist.

Virgo

Mars owns the third and the eighth houses. Both are houses of longevity. A strong Mars therefore gives good longevity. However these are houses of obstacles and poverty as well so a strong Mars will give utter poverty.

Mars placed in Gemini in the tenth gives all sorts of vices in youth as well as a violent mind. This happens as Mars aspects both house of Mercury – a planet which represents intellect.

For Virgo Lagna, Mars in the 10th house gives a quarrelsome and faithless spouse. Otherwise, Mars gives favorable results. One is happy and intelligent and becomes affluent. One gains from journeys connected to profession. This placement of Mars makes one a good communicator. Younger brother/s shines well and is helpful to him.

Mars in the tenth house for Virgo ascendant gives splendor, a loving family and children. One is learned and can endure adversity. He is also well versed in politics. Such a person is ambitious, rash, quick and ingenious. He is skilled in music and fine arts.

The rise in life is slow. There are obstacles, and one’s merits go unnoticed. He may finally resort to use deceit and unrighteous methods to attain his ends.

If the second lord is afflicted, one may be involved in huge debts and be unable to pay them back. One may be forced to declare bankruptcy and suffer humiliation.

The eighth lord placed in 6, 8, 12 houses in Navamsa chart greatly reduces the problem. Eighth lord in the tenth house may give an unexpected legacy on account of the death of elders or superiors.

Tenth house Mars and what it means for you Gemini and Cancer

Free Vedic astrology article

Continuation of the previous Blog...

Gemini

For Gemini Lagna (ascendant) Mars becomes the lord of the sixth and eleventh houses. Both are the houses of injury. Mars therefore becomes a potent Marak (killer). If Mars aspects a house, house lord and the Karak for that house, the body part connected to that house will become injured or will be surgically operated upon. The other characteristics of that house will also be injured.

Since Aries falls in the eleventh house, it becomes the ascendant for the elder brother. If a Bhav and Bhav lord are both afflicted due to any reason, the elder brother will have disease in that part. E.g. the first house will show head injury, second the face, third the lungs and bronchial tube etc.

Mars is inherently violent by nature. His lord ship of the sixth house of violence makes him even more violent. A further measure of violence is added by virtue of his lord ship of the eleventh house (sixth from sixth). If by any chance his alter ego Ketu occupies the sixth or eleventh house, Mars becomes extremely violent. The extent to which the Lagna Lord, Moon and fourth lords as well as lagna and the fourth house are under the influence of this Mars will determine how violent the native is.

Mars if placed strongly in the 10th house indicates a destructive nature. The person is extremely self seeking and will do anything (even resort to violence) to attain his objectives. He poses as an orthodox and pious man but really is unscrupulous in regard to religion and spirituality. Such a person is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

A strong Mars bestows notable success in business. The elder brother is helpful to him. One may earn some prize money for original contribution to his subject of study or profession.

If Mars is weak, he gives dismissal through powerful enemies in professional life.

Cancer

Mars owns the fifth and tenth houses and so becomes a Yog Karak for this Lagna (cancer ascendant). A strong Mars gives wealth and power. One rises high because of his intellect, logical thinking and ability to give sound advice. He also commands respect and honor.

A strong Mars in the tenth house gives landed property. One earns the goodwill of the ruling class, constructs temples and performs religious services. One of his sons becomes a gem of the family. Aspect of Sun on Mars connects him to intelligence and espionage.

Strong Mars also gives remarkable successful in one’s profession.

A weak Mars gives problems due to progeny and stomach related problems. One  is fickle minded, and  has no self respect. He asks for favors and is dependent upon others all his life.

Tenth house Mars and what does it mean for you

Free Vedic astrology article on the predictions related to the placement of Mars in the 10th house for all zodiac signs.

Mars is a fast moving, energetic and fiery planet, who also has the potential to cause injury. He is the lord of two zodiac signs Aries and Scorpio. These rule over the head and scrotum area in the body of Kal Purush or the legendry human being.

Mars becomes exalted in Capricorn which is the tenth sign of the zodiac. The tenth house represents religious deeds, ruling powers given by government, social status, honor, deliberate actions and wealth of father. The tenth house also represents the knees of the Kal Purush.

Mars has been designated as one of the Karak planets of the tenth house and his influence there is considered good for professional prospects of an individual. In this article we shall examine all Lagna from Aries to Pisces and find out what promises does Mars hold for each of these.

Aries

All traits of Mars abound in the person with Aries ascendant. S/he is active and has a quick temper. Mars becomes the lord of Lagna (longevity) and the eighth house (death). The planets influencing Mars decide the nature and mode of death. Strength of Mars therefore becomes very important in deciding longevity. The stronger he is the better is the longevity.

The eighth is also the house of secret love affairs, so unless there is a beneficial aspect on Mars, the lordship of Mars over eighth house makes a person prone to hidden sexual affairs .

For Aries ascendant Mars in the tenth house becomes exalted. This exaltation of the Lagna lord gives happiness from parents. One has many brothers and maintains good relationship with them.

Since Lagna has a direct bearing on body structure, exalted Mars endows one with a good figure. It is for this reason that men have very attractive physique and women have a stunning and voluptuous figure. There is a raw sexual appeal to both sexes and it becomes very easy for them to attract the opposite sex.

Such people are materialistic, well behaved and fair looking. The fourth house rules over real estate and Mars is the significator of real estate. So, if fourth lord is strong, one acquires vast real estate especially through maternal relations (fourth house is the house of mother as well).

One becomes wealthy, happy, and famous and commands a number of fine vehicles. Exaltation of the 10th lord gives professional success and honor by eminent men. This exaltation also gives a research scholar or an expert in his line of work.

Taurus

Taurus born are generally attractive and very hard working people. They like luxurious living and are friendly to people who are different or alien to them. This happens as the other sign of Venus; Libra falls in the sixth house which represents aliens or foreigners. Sixth house represents injury so they are accident prone for the same reason. This is more so when Jupiter the eighth lord and Mars the seventh lord aspect Venus.

Mars rules over the 7th and the 12th houses for Taurus ascendant. As the planet representing the spouse, a strong Mars gives longevity to partner. Conversely, a weak/afflicted Mars gives much expenditure on account of the life partner. It could be connected to health care and/or debts connected to her.

In a female horoscope, if Mars and Saturn afflict the Lagna as well as the Lagna Lord Venus, the husband is very cruel towards her. This happens as Mars represents the husband and Saturn his arms (being the third lord from seventh).

For Taurus Lagna, Mars becomes the lord of the twelfth and seventh houses. Both houses represent sex and luxurious living. If Mars and Venus are together placed in seventh or twelfth houses the person is a sex addict. Their placement in fifth house gives the same result. Mars loses his malefic nature as the Kendra lord and becomes somewhat good for financial matters.

Mars in the 10th house gives a flourish to a profession connected to travel. He also promises success in a foreign land. Such a person is a hard worker who often has to take tedious journeys.

The spouse is a devoted person, who contributes to family income and helps in the advancement of native’s career. For Taurus ascendant, the 10th house is occupied by Aquarius, and Mars is not very happy in that sign. The person may be untruthful, jealous, miserable, independent, unwise, impulsive, controversial and combative. He is usually quick in forgiving and forgetting. The body is likely to be hairy.

The 8th house aspect of Mars falls on the fifth house which is occupied by Virgo. Mercury and Mars are bitter enemies and so Mars causes problems in conception and delivery of children. He also causes reduced happiness on account of children when they grow up.

In the next Blog, Gemini and Cancer.

Ashtam Shani – Adverse transit of Saturn through the eighth house

Free Vedic astrology article.

Continuation of the previous Blog about Saturn transits.

In the previous Blog we dealt with Sade Sati and Pancham Shani, or the transit of Saturn through the 12,1st, 2nd houses as also the 5th house from Moon.

In this Blog we shall take a look at what happens when Saturn transits the 8th house from Moon. When in the 8th house, Saturn not only gives the results of his physical presence there but also of where his three aspects fall.

Saturn’s transit through the eighth house from Moon causes losses and sorrow. One meets disappointments. Infamy and fear from law hovers in the background. Separation from progeny takes place. Life partner’s health causes concern and possibility of bereavement exists. Bad company and gambling tendency causes many problems. These results are favorably modified if Saturn is in Capricorn or Aquarius in birth or Navansh charts.

The third aspect of Saturn falls on the 10th house and separates a person from his profession and status. In other words, one is liable to lose his job and status in society. Professional obstacles increase during this two and a half year period and one is constantly fighting a losing battle.

The seventh house aspect of Saturn falls on the 2nd house of wealth and causes steady erosion of savings. Bank balance gets depleted and credit cards are maxed. Second house is also the house of domestic happiness and it gets affected negatively. The 2nd house is the 8th from seventh and shows the longevity of the spouse. Saturn’s aspect cause health issues to the life partner.

Saturn’s 10th house aspect falls on the 5th house of children and speculation and causes problems connected to both. One’s progeny may experience ill health and health care May require expenditure of money care giving. If the health of children remains intact, then there may be some other problems that cause anxiety to the individual. For these reasons this becomes the worst time to invest for future gains.

Remedies for Saturn transits

In addition to the measures given in earlier Blogs, there are a few more things that a person can do. Here they are.

Mantra: Chant Maha Mritunjaya Mantra. Also chant Shani Mantra which is
OM PRAAM PREEM PROM SAHA SHANYE NAMAHA.
This mantra should be chanted 23000 times in forty days.

Chant: Do a complete recitation of Dashrath Uvaach at least once a day.

Ring: Wear a ring made from the bottom of a boat, which is in use, or made from the horseshoe of a black horse (Front right foot)

Vrat / (Fast): Observe fast on Saturday. Worship Shani Dev with Kavach, Stotra and Mantra. Consume only milk, yogurt and fruit juice. Visit a Shani temple in the evening. Eat salted Khichri made with boiled Urad Dal and rice.

Aushadhi/(herbs): Every Saturday bathe with water in which the following has been mixed the night before.
Surma, black sesame seeds (Kale Til), Saunf (Aniseed), Nagarmotha (Sweet smelling Cyprus grass), and Lodha (Symploce racemoze)

Donation: Urad Dal (black lentils), sesame seeds, buffalo, iron utensils, knife, money and black clothes should be donated. Donation of blue sapphire is also very helpful.

Wrap a cotton thread seven times round a Peepal tree (The holy fig tree) on a Saturday evening. Keep chanting the Shani mantra while doing so. Make a lamp from kneaded flour, add some mustard oil to it and light it at the base of the tree. Ask forgiveness for all misdeeds done knowingly or unknowingly in the past.

Measure a thread equal to nineteen times the length of your hand (elbow to finger tips) and wear it as a garland.
Make the following Yantra on an iron plate and wear it on your body. For best results the iron plate should be made from the front foot horse shoe of a black horse.
The above is the suggested actual size of the Yantra.
On a Saturday, make a dish of boiled Urad Dal, sesame seeds (black), and jaggery and bury it in a place where people do not walk.

Or

Bury an earthenware pot filled with honey in a shallow pit. This will remove the problems connected to Saturn. Dashrath Stotra, Pipplad Uvaach and Maha Mritunjaya mantra can be purchased from any book shop selling religious books from near a temple. If you find it difficult to procure it, please write to me.

Gemstone

Blue Sapphire or Neelam

Metal

Iron

Representative herb

Mustard seeds

Day

Saturday

This ends the remedial measures for Saturn.

Sade Sati, Pancham And Ashtam Shani (adverse transits of Saturn)

Free Vedic astrology article.

Planet Saturn takes two and a half years to transit one Rashi or Zodiac sign. When he passes through the 3rd, 6th and 11th houses from Moon in a horoscope, he gives good results like happiness, prosperity and enjoyment of physical pleasures of all types. His transit through other houses usually gives bad results.

When Saturn transits through the twelfth, the first and the second house from Moon in a horoscope, the phenomenon is called Sade Sati. This is so as Saturn takes a total of seven and a half years in passing through these three houses.

The results of this passage are often vexing and troublesome though they are not bad. Some good results also accrue.

What are possible effects?

According to Hindu astrology Sade-Sati usually results in feet related problems and migraine type head aches. Heavy and wasteful expenditure takes its toll on savings. Progeny, especially male issues get into difficulties and are involved in insulting situations. This period also brings about health related issues and the general health of the person is less than adequate. Mental tensions mount relentlessly and separation from family takes place.

Sade Sati stages

Saturn has iron feet during the first two and a half years and this transit causes domestic troubles and unhappiness, losses in business and profession, unsound health and strained relations with relatives. Enemies create troubles.
During the next two and a half years Saturn has Golden feet. Strained relations with extended family, financial drain, false accusations are the results of this transit.
For the last two and a half years Saturn has feet of silver and gives gains of/from real estate, smooth relations with extended family, and gains from government.

Remedial measures for Sade Sati

1.Recitation of Pipplaad Uvaach, a six line Sanskrit hymn in praise of Lord Saturn is very helpful in overcoming the problems caused by him.
2.The Shani Mantra recited 108×3 times every day is also very helpful. The easiest mantra is OM PRAM PREEM PROM SAHA SHANAISHCHARAYE NAMAHA
3.Offerings of mustard oil, Urad Dal, iron implements, raw sugar, and black sesame seeds every Saturday is very effective.
4.Praying in a Shiva temple every Saturday and offering milk-water mixture while chanting OM NAMAHA SHIVAYE works very well too.
5.Fasting on Saturdays and eating only one time meal also helps.
6.Wearing an iron ring made from a horse shoe removed from the right front foot of a black horse is another excellent remedy.
7.The ring can also be made from a nail removed from the bottom of a boat.

There is nothing to be afraid of a Sade Sati. Ups and downs are a fact of life. We all learn from adversities and they are a harsh but effective teacher. I have always believed that Life is a journey best traveled by keeping eyes wide open, mouth firmly closed and mental filing system busy.

Pancham Shani or transit of Saturn through the fifth house from Moon

Without any doubt, fifth house transit of Saturn brings a long list of problems with it. This happens because when in the fifth house, his third house aspect falls on the 7th house of marriage and separates a person from the joys of conjugal harmony. The spouse or life partner either falls sick or one has to move away from her. Relationships teetering on the brink of a break up usually snap at this time. One may elope, go for legal separation or file a divorce. No doubt other planets also play their role in this but Saturn triggers the process.

The seventh aspect of Saturn falls on the 11th house of financial gains and puts a brake on income. Money which has been promised is delayed or even canceled at the last moment. Bank loans approved earlier fall through. This is not all. The tenth aspect of Saturn falls on the second house of wealth and begins to diminish it. Decreased income makes it imperative to dip into  savings which suffer attrition. Credit cards get maxed at this time and one is happy if she is just able to pay the minimum payments. Over all the fifth house transit takes a heavy toll on finances.

Saturn has an unfavorable effect on the fifth house also. Fifth as we know is the house ruling over children and speculation. Both of these suffer. Children’s health may become a cause for concern and speculation results only into losses.

In the next Blog, Ashtam Shani and all remedies.

How to spot problems created by weak planets and eliminate them Part XVII – Saturn

Free Vedic astrology article
Continuation of the previous Blog.....

Pipplaad Uvaach is an especially helpful Stotra of only six lines. It is easy to remember and can be chanted at will throughout the day. If that is also difficult then the following ten synonyms of Saturn should at least be chanted.

KONASTHA, PINGLO, BABHRU, KRISHNA, RODRANTAKO, YAMA, SAURI, SHANAISHCHAR, MAND PIPPLA.

If one feels threatened about life or limb, an accident or grievous illness, one should take recourse to Mrityunjaya Mantra. This is very effective remedy against great fear and untimely death. One also escapes diseases that could cause death.

First of all make sure that water is dripping constantly over the Shivling in a Shiva Temple. Then facing east chant the Rishi Markandey given Mrityunjaya Stotra every day. (Literally meaning victorious over death)

The first Shlok of the Stotra is

CHANDRA SHEKHAR CHANDRA SHEKHAR CHANDRA SHEKHAR PAHI MAM
CHANDRA SHEKHAR CHANDRA SHEKHAR CHANDRA SHEKHAR RAKSH MAM

Relationship within the nuclear family

An adverse placement of Saturn can cause a rift between a person and his progeny, wife etc. If that happens the following Stotra called Shani Gayatri gives immediate relief.

The first Shlok is Dhyan or reflection on the manifested form of Saturn.

NEELAMBARO NEELVAPUHU KIREETI GRIDHRA-STHIT-STRAS-KARO DHANUSHMAN
CHATURBHUJAHA SURYA SUTAHA PRASHANTAHA SADASTU MAHYAM VARDOALPGAMI

This was given in the previous Blog and is followed by Shani Gayatri.

OM KRISHNANGAYE VIDMAHE RAVIPUTRAYE CHA DHEE-MAHI
TANNAHA SAURIHI PRACHODAYAAT.

An alternative to this is following Mantra. It has an additional benefit of removing problems caused by Mars also. In my view both should be part of daily chants.

AGHORABHYOTH GHORABHYO GHOR-GHOR-TAREBHYAHA
SARVEBHYO SARVA-SHARVEBHYO NAMASTE ASTU RUDRA-ROOPEBHYAHA

Hanumat Bhujang Stotra

This is an extremely powerful and energy packed Stotra that destroys all evil of every kind. One can feel the buildup of energy while chanting.

As always the first Shlok of this Stotra is

SPHURAD VIDULLAS BALAGRA GHANTA JHANTKAR NAD PRAVRIDDHATTAHASAM
BHAJE VAYUSOOTAM BHAJE RAMDOOTAM BHAJE VAJRADEHAM BHAJE BHAKTA BANDHUM

In the next and final Blog Sade Sati and its remedies.

How to spot problems created by weak planets and eliminate them Part XVI – Saturn

Free Vedic astrology article

Continuation of previous Blog. . .

Remedies for Saturn

Cleanliness pleases Saturn. Daily bathing and praying to Lord Hanuman, Shiv or Bhirav removes minor Saturn generated problems.

Unclean house, broken bed, torn mattress and furniture gathering dust in a store room, all draw Saturn’s ire. Dirty fingernails and dirty teeth also do the same.

Oil massage on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays followed by a bath helps remove problems connected to Saturn. The oil should be Mustard or Sesame seed.

The previous two Blogs dealt with the problems caused by Saturn in twelve signs and twelve houses. These are easily removed by the following Mantra.

OM AIEEM HREEM SHREEM SHANAISH-CHARAYE

SADE SATI AND DHAYYA

Saturn takes two and a half years to pass through a sign and thirty years to go around the Zodiac. His transit through each sign is called Dhayya, literally meaning two and a half. Two of these Dhayya periods are particularly vexing. These are when Saturn transits the fifth and the eighth house from the Moon. All types of problems beset an individual during these periods.

The best remedy is to chant the Shani Stvaraj. This was given by Narad Muni to Maharaj Yudhishthir. The Stotra starts with a prayer to Lord Ganesh. The first two Shlok are given below for identification purpose only.

GAJANANAM BHOOT GANADI SAVITAM KAPITHHA JAMBU PHAL SAAR BHAKSHANAM
UMASUTAM SHOKVINASH KARAKAM NAMAMI VIGHNESHWR PAAD PANKAJAM.

DHYATVA GANAPATIM RAJA DHARMRAJO YUDHISHTHIRAHA
DHEERHA SHANAISHCHAR SYEMAM CHAKAR SVAMUTTAMAM

Ast Shani or combust Saturn

If Saturn is placed in close proximity to Sun in a horoscope, he loses his capacity to give favorable results. This however does not reduce his inauspicious results. As a consequence of this, Saturn becomes unreliable. A person with Ast Shani is buffeted by the ups and downs of life frequently. The remedy for this is the daily recitation of Shani Vajrapanjar Stotram given in Brahmand Puran. The Stotra starts with this Shlok.

NEELAMBARO NEELVAPUHU KIREETI GRIDHRA-STHIT-STRAS-KARO DHANUSHMAN
CHATURBHUJAHA SURYA SUTAHA PRASHANTAHA SADASTU MAHYAM VARDOALPGAMI

Saturn can cause physical accidents and injury during his unfavorable transits and planetary periods. To get over the problems like this, recitation of Shanaishchar-ashtak Stotra AND Pipplaad Uvaach is a very effective.

KODANTAKO RODRYA-MOTH BABHRUHU KRISHNAHA SHANIHI PINGAL MAND SORIHI
NITYAM SMRITO YO HARTE CHA PEEDAM TASMAI NAMAHA SHRI RAVINANDNAYE.

Aditya Hridaya Stotra

Aditya Hridaya Stotra is perhaps the most important hymn to Surya Dev (Sun). It was given to Lord Ram by Rishi Agastya on the battle field of Ram Ravan war, on the day Ravan was to be slain.

Sun represents honor, fame, social status, father, eyes, soul, self, self esteem, deliberate action, bones, belly, heart and digestion. His weakness results in diminution of everything mentioned above.

Daily listening to Aditya Hriday Stotra ensures happiness, prosperity, and decimation of all opposition. The Stotra generates powerful vibrations which neutralize the effect of all negativity caused by other eight planets in the horoscope. It is a complete prayer that removes all problems from the life of an individual.

Three chants of this Stotra before embarking on an important project ensures its completion without impediments. The chants also remove great fear during a crisis by giving unflinching self confidence.

The Stotra in the video embedded here has been sung by Shubha Mudgal. Her clear voice effortlessly conveys the energy of the Stotra and her flawless pronunciation makes it a distinct pleasure to listen to it. It is a natural winner.

In daily practice, Karanyas and Hridayadi Nyas are essential before starting the chant. The procedure can be best understood by perusing Durga Sapta Shati published by Geeta Press Gorakhpur.

Medha Sooktam

I found this excellent video on Medha Sooktam on You Tube and I want to share it with you. Regular listening to this hymn has an excellent influence on the brain activity. It increases the power of concentration and problem solving and harmonizes the activity of the right and left hemispheres of the brain. It is beneficial in attention deficit syndrome related problems also.

So here it is, a small offering from India's inexhaustible wealth of spirituality. Long after the pillars of modern consumerist cultures have crumbled and are ground to dust by the relentless onslaught of time, India's timeless teachings will remain. India has always been a beacon of wisdom and enlightenment to the world and will remain so.

Close your eyes, focus on the universal intelligence and immerse yourself in the timeless and honeyed beauty of this ancient hymn.
