Behen Mayawati and her prospects in 2017 UP elections.

Mayawati was born on 15 January 1956 at Shrimati Sucheta Kriplani Hospital, New Delhi in a Hindu Dalit family. Her father, Prabhu Das, was a post office employee at Badalpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar. The sons in the family were sent to private schools, while the daughters went to “low-performing government schools”. Mayawati studied for her B.A. in 1975 at the Kalindi Women’s College and obtained her LLB from the Campus Law Centre, part of the University of Delhi. She completed her B.Ed. from VMLG College, Ghaziabad. In 1976. She was working as a teacher in Inderpuri JJ Colony, Delhi, and studying for the Indian Administrative Services exams, when Dalit politician Kanshi Ram visited her family home in 1977. Rest as we know is history.

Mayawati is a self made woman who rose in status to become a Dalit icon through the dint of her own hard work and intelligence. Her political achievements apart, she became a symbol of hope to millions of Dalits all over the nation. When the history of modern India is written she will not be a mere foot note but a heroic figure. No one can take that away from her. Sure she has her faults but before criticizing her one must remember that when she started out, she was a Dalit, an untouchable and a woman. Three biggest stumbling blocks in India. To start from there and reach where she is now is a monumental achievement.

Highlights of the chart

• Chandra Kundli is much more powerful than Lagna Kundli. Lagna Lord Saturn in the eleventh and tenth lord Venus in the second house create a powerful Raj Yog.
• In Chalit Bhav Kundli, Saturn and Jupiter are both exalted. Their Dashas will give the results of exalted planets.
• Saturn and Mars are placed in Pushkar Navamsa which enhances their ability to give favorable results.
• Sun is Vargottam but not fully strong. It indicates financial issues cropping up from time to time. Sixth lord Jupiter in the second only adds to the problem.
• In the Janma chart, eleventh lord Venus in the eighth house is not good for financial success.
• Yog Karak Mars is strong but placed with eighth Lord Saturn and Rahu in the fifth house. This reduces Mars’s ability to give promised results. In Panchdha Maitri Chakra, Saturn and Mars are bitter enemies.
  
• Mars wins the planetary war and gives good results. His union with eighth Lord Saturn and Rahu spoils the Raj Yog.
• Retrograde Jupiter in the second house will not give good results pertaining to finances and acquisition of ruling powers as he is primarily the lord of sixth house.
• Seventh lord Saturn placed in the fifth with Mars and Rahu prevents marital happiness. It also gives health issues connected to reproductive system.

Mayawati was born in Dhanishtha Nakshatra which gives a razor sharp intelligence and encyclopedic knowledge. There is strong bedrock of spirituality in people born in this Nakshatra and they would never think of harming any one by thought, word or deed. They are patient people and always reserve their judgment or disagreements till the end. This however doesn’t mean that others can wrong them and get away with it. Revenge is prompt and certain. If something cannot be avenged immediately, it is filed away. But one can rest assured that retribution will eventually come.

They are self-reliant persons and want to make their mark by the dint of their own hard work. They have a drill sergeant attitude towards life. Everything is well ordered and runs like clockwork.

As mentioned above they are a highly intelligent persons and capable of attaining really high education. They are highly secretive by nature and do not reveal their plans to anyone. Any senior post, which requires secrecy and good administration, is fit for the Dhanishtha born. They are quick witted and in an argument are miles ahead of others.

We shall now study the Lagna, second, fourth, seventh, ninth and tenth houses as they directly pertain to acquisition of power and its application to governance.

Lagna

Lagna chart gets a Bhav Bal of 470 units and is very strong. Lagna Lord Moon although strong in Shadbal is without any Paksh Bal and completely unfavorable. Saturn and Ketu aspect on Moon is not good for Ms. Mayawati.

In Chandra Kundli, Lagna is very strong with 519 units. Lagna Lord Saturn is also very strong with 151% of required strength. Saturn makes a Raj Yog with fourth lord Mars placed in his own Rashi in the eleventh house. Tenth lord Venus in the second house makes her fortunate and helps her rise very high in life.

Mayawati will enjoy good health and remain a strong leader of the downtrodden masses. No one can take that away from her. She will remain a permanent star on UP firmament.

The second house

The second house rules over the ruling powers, stored wealth, face, voice and domestic happiness. It is adequately strong but not overly so. It gets a Bhav Bal of 432 units. The second lord Sun is 98% strong and mostly unfavorable. This is a problem which needs to be sorted out. There may be dearth of money from time to time which in politics can become a serious threat.

In the Chandra Kundli, Saturn becomes the second lord and is placed nicely in the eleventh house. Saturn is strong and very beneficial but its close Yoga with Mars is not welcome as it brings bad health. Mayawati will be lucky with respect to real estate. The Chandra Kundli strong in terms of finances and alleviates the problems caused by weak sun in the birth chart.

Rahu is placed in the eleventh house in Chandra Kundli but he falls in Nidhanamsha and spoils the earning potential.

The second lord Sun in the birth chart is weak and Saturn aspects it. Saturn carries the aspect of Rahu and Mars with it. In Chandra Kundli, The second lord is connected to Rahu and Mars. The speech is therefore rough and acidic. There is absolutely no polish and sweetness in it. While this may be okay with her close supporters, it puts off the general public that watches her on TV. This is a major public relation failure. She absolutely must work on her voice, tonality, diction and content.

Fourth house

Fourth house is moderately strong with 419 units. Its lord Venus is also adequately strong and overall beneficial. Placement of Venus in the eighth house is not helpful at all but since it falls in Putramsha it becomes somewhat helpful.

In Chandra Kundli, the fourth house gets 437 points and its lord Mars gets 124% of the required Shadbal. Both are good. Mars is neutral as far as its behavior is concerned. Overall the fourth house is satisfactory. Under favorable transit and Dasha-Bhukti Mayawati will get a gratifying response from the public.

Seventh house

In political terms, the seventh house represents how a leader is regarded by the masses. One may call it the public relation ability of a leader. The seventh house in the Lagna chart gets 519 points and is very strong. The seventh lord Saturn is also very powerful in Shad Bal and benign. In Chalit Bhava Saturn becomes exalted, and its good results will be available whenever the Bhukti of Saturn operates. Saturn is afflicted by Mars which reduces the good results.

In the Chandra Kundli, too the seventh house is very strong and the so is the seventh lord Moon. Moon however suffers from the defect of almost zero Paksh Bal. Saturn and Ketu both aspect Moon. This has serious ramifications for smooth running of public relations machine. There will be hiccups and it will occasionally sputter to a stop.

If we relate these findings to her personal relationships, one thing that emerges clearly is that there is no happiness in that area.

The ninth house

This house rules over religion, spirituality, higher knowledge, favors from government, wisdom, fortune, philosophy, righteousness and kingdom. The lord of the ninth house Jupiter is retrograde and placed in the second house. In the Chalit Bhava Jupiter is exalted. However Jupiter primarily gives the results of the sixth lord as the Mool Trikon Rashi falls there. The Bhukti of Jupiter will bring personal gains to Mayawati but mostly Jupiter’s role will be restrictive as far as finances are concerned. Jupiter is placed in Vyayamsha so it would be futile to expect much wealth from it.  

In the Chandra Kundli, the ninth house is very strong and its lord Mercury is placed in the Lagna itself. This indicates that the native is a self made woman and will earn much money through her own efforts. 

The overall results are satisfactory but the image of Mayawati as floating in a sea of wealth would be a figment of imagination.

The tenth house

The tenth house from Lagna is strong though not overly so. Its lord Mars is powerful, a Yog Karak but neutral in its behavior. Mars union with Rahu and Saturn is bad overall.

In the Chandra Kundli, tenth lord Venus goes to the second house in a friendly sign Aquarius. Venus is strong and beneficial. The lord of second house Saturn is placed in the eleventh with the eleventh lord Mars. This is a nice linkage and helpful for getting ruling powers. The Bhukti of Venus will always prove helpful.

Mercury-Venus runs until 19/9/2018 and indicates that Mayawati should be able to get a fair share of the UP assembly seats. More clarity will emerge after the poll dates are published as the third level of Dasha will then be known.

Transits

Jupiter transits to favorable ninth house on 11/8/2016. This is a helpful transit and blesses her with financial benefits. profession flourishes and one gains status and fame. One meets success everywhere. There is also a distinct leaning towards spirituality.

Jupiter transits over the 64th Navamsa from Moon from 25/7/2016 to 12/8/2016. This is a very beneficial transit and will help her both personally and politically.

Saturn transits to the unfavorable twelfth house from Moon on 26/1/2017. This actually begins the Sade Sati for Mayawati. Saturn has the Paya of iron and brings domestic troubles and unhappiness. Losses in business and profession, unsound health and strained relations with relatives are likely. Enemies will create troubles.

Transits over Bhrigu Bindu

Rahu transits over this point from 23/4/2019 to 3/8/2019. This is going to be a tough time for her. Health issue may bog her down, politically too its a period of extreme tension.

Mayawati should wear a genuine Basra pearl – 7 to 10 carats – in a silver ring on the little finger of her right hand. In this case, the bigger is better.

She would also benefit immensely by wearing a seven Carat red Burmese Ruby in a gold ring on the ring finger of her right hand.

A seven carat coral worn in a silver ring on the ring finger of her left hand will also help tremendously. 

Propitiation of Saturn and Rahu will remove most of the problems from her way.

How is August 2016 for you?

I give below the results of planetary transits for each Rashi. A Rashi is the sign where the Moon is placed in your horoscope. It is not the sun sign of western astrology. Aries: Some health niggles may keep bothering you. Transit of Mars and Saturn through the eighth house creates ill health, obstacles and frustration. You feel like dropping everything and running away somewhere far, far away. From 11th August onward, Jupiter also moves to unfavorable sixth house. A secret worry and lack of money will keep you worried. Regular visit to Shani temple on Saturdays until 26th January 2017 is urgently needed.

Taurus: Retrograde Saturn aspects the fourth house and the fourth lord Sun to keep mother’s health indifferent. A vehicle is likely to demand an inflated bill for maintenance. Mentally you remain tense as you tackle an unexpected rise in  expenses. Lagna Lord Venus becomes Neech on 26th August and causes domestic strife. Exchange of hot words with close relatives should be avoided as much as possible. The health is not at its best this month.

Gemini: Mercury transits the third house along with Rahu and forces you to waste your energy chasing elusive targets. Income is likely to dip but the situation improves after Mercury becomes exalted in Virgo on 19th August. This triggers new sources of income and meeting with new and helpful people. By the month end you are humming along nicely.

Cancer: Transit of Sun through Cancer creates some health issues for the first two weeks. Differences of opinion with friends and dear ones are more than likely and should be handled carefully. 11th August onward, Ninth lord Jupiter transits Virgo  and blesses you with domestic happiness. Children related news makes you happy. If expecting a child this could be the month. For others, their children do very well.

Leo: Presence of Jupiter in this sign at the beginning of the month brings partial success in planned projects. Your mind remains involved with spiritual and religious pursuits. Professionally this is a month of accomplishments. Sun enters Leo on 16th August and gives health wealth and happiness. You spend on amusements and gadgets to make your life happier.

Virgo: Jupiter enters this sign for one year on 11th August and right away causes an all round improvement in the situation. Your thoughts turn to spirituality and religion. A job promotion that was stuck for a while finally comes through. Some slack in income is likely. Venus enters Virgo and becomes Neech. This causes sadness and strife with your life partner.

Libra: Rashi Lord Venus transits the 11th house along with Rahu until 25th August. This brings about an improvement in the prevailing situation. Your hard work and efforts are rewarded with increased income. You spend money on luxuries and good things of life. Enhanced status is very likely. Saturn transits through the last phase of Sade Sati and creates a sense of dissatisfaction.

The second half causes expenses on some auspicious activity or function. Jupiter in the 10th house after 11th August  generates needless running around and wasted efforts that achieve very little.

Capricorn: Despite extra hard work, financial situation remains tense. 11th August onward Jupiter’s Neech aspect on this Rashi brings adverse situations in your way that are hard to negotiate. Professionally this is a very busy month. Unwarranted and sudden expenses may cause dismay. Keep relentless track of your diet, life style, money and efforts.

Aquarius: Jupiter’s own aspect on Sagittarius Rashi in the 11th house boosts income and brings about something auspicious to happen. Comforts of new clothes, real estate and vehicles are also available now. Your religious and spiritual aspirations become strong and you may spend money on charity and pilgrimage.

Pisces: Jupiter aspects its own Rashi in Lagna and makes you spend time and money in spiritual and religious activities. A steady cooperation from family proves very helpful. Mercury moves to Virgo in the 7th house and aspects Lagna. This may cause some mental tension and indifferent health. A secret worry will gnaw at your mind.

Will Arvind Kejriwal win 2017 Punjab elections?

The Election Commission of India has declared that Punjab will go to elections in February 2017. The ruling SAD-BJP government, led by Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, will face voters five years after coming back to power in 2012. The chief contenders are going to be Akali Dal, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party.

In this Blog we shall consider the future of Arvind Arvind kejriwal in Punjab in the light of coming elections. His birth chart is given below.

Arvind kejriwal was born in the last quarter of Krittika Nakshatra. Krittika produces very intelligent persons. The problem is that they are fickle minded and change their views and their goals rather frequently. they flit like butterfly from one goal to another without weighing up the advantages or disadvantages of their actions. Boredom with the project in hand is their main enemy. They dislike even a little encroachment on their ego and freedom. Any relationship that affects their ego and freedom will not last long. Being intelligent they make good advisors to others but when it comes to advising themselves they are utter failures.       

they are determined, energetic and tenacious people and do not take no for an answer easily. They have the ability to make huge amounts of money but more often than not their possessions are not spectacular. This stems from their deep-seated desire to remain self-reliant and not take obligations and help from others. The important thing to remember is that whatever they do, they do honestly, and without using unfair means.

They have an innate desire to serve humanity but often fall flat on their face while pursuing these philanthropic dreams. The reasons for this are clear; they will not crook their finger, nor allow others to do so. Their supporters who are there for self-promotion slowly squeeze them out. Their sincerity causes their downfall, and causes frustration to build up. This frustration leads to anger that keeps on accumulating and explodes one day. Once they explode they become dangerous as they do not know when to stop.

They are however able to earn fame and recognition in public life despite the problems listed above. They are unable to change according to the circumstances. This is their main weakness. They march to their own tune and wish that others will follow them, meanwhile they keep the right of changing tunes to themselves.

Electoral battle

Fighting elections is essentially about grabbing ruling powers and all the privileges that go with it. The only difference compared to just a hundred years ago is that while in earlier battles the soldiers lost their lives trying to grab power, in the present times they only lose their votes.

Six houses in astrology have a close connection with power. These are the Lagna, the second house, the fourth house, the seventh house, the ninth house and the tenth house. We shall now study these houses closely.

Lagna

The Lagna is the foundation of the horoscope and the most important house. It is so because it depicts the individual, his thought process and his personality. A horoscope may be bristling with Raj Yogs but if the Lagna is weak nothing good can happen to the individual. The most sumptuous meal is valueless for a person who has weak digestion. A strong Lagna on the other hand can overcome all adversities with aplomb.

Lagna is Arvind kejriwal’s chart is very strong; primarily because the Janma and Chandra Lagna are the same. The good and bad things in life will come with great force. In addition third lord Moon is exalted in the Lagna. Moon represents the mind and in this chart the leadership ability. Exalted Moon gives a strong mind and an ability to lead.

Venus becomes the lord of the Lagna and is placed in the fourth house in Leo. This placement is however deceptive because in the Chalit Kundli Venus is placed in Neech state in the fifth house. It is true that Neech Bhang exists but it done by Mercury which is weak in Shad Bal. Venus is not at all favorable and will not give beneficial results. The overall results of the Lagna are moderately positive.

The second house

This governs ruling powers, accumulated wealth and the quality of speech. The house gets a strength of 446 units which is adequate. The second lord Mercury is weak in Shad Bal with only 97% of required strength. The only good thing about Mercury is his ratio of desirable/undesirable results which is okay. In the Chalit Bhav Mercury is placed in the fifth house in exaltation and Rahu aspects it. This suggests that the speech will not be very impressive and be rather plebeian. Mercury overall gives positive results. This suggests that Arvind kejriwal will be blessed with ruling powers and accumulate a fair amount of wealth. This advantage is however not sufficient enough to keep him in power over a prolonged period.

Fourth house

The fourth house is a very important house in a politician’s chart because it pertains to the common man or the average voter. A politician without a strong fourth house is merely going to be a party functionary without having a grass root support. These are the people who are brought into the public office through the Rajya Sabha route. A strong fourth house is essential to have grass root support. The fourth house in Arvind kejriwal’s chart is very strong suggesting that he will have a strong support base.

Fourth lord Sun is placed at zero degrees and twenty nine minutes. It is not capable of giving its full beneficial results. Sun is overall favorable. Sun is the Karak or significator of ruling powers and governance. The strength of Sun is not adequate to keep Arvind kejriwal in power over an extended period. It will be very difficult for him to repeat his performance in Delhi – even in Delhi.

The seventh house

This house relates to relationships. In an individual’s chart it shows the strength and character of his relationships. In a larger sense it also depicts how one relates to the people around him. It can also be called the house of public relations. This along with the fourth house determines the image one has in the public. It shows the public perception of a person.

The seventh house is weak and shows that relationships are not beneficial and lasting. The seventh house is ruled by Mars which is placed in Neech Awastha in the third house. Mars however achieves complete Neech Bhang and becomes favorable. The ratio of desirable/undesirable results in the case of Mars is completely vitiated. Rahu aspects Mars, as well as the seventh house and being a separatist planet tends to spoil all relationships.  Arvind kejriwal is going to face serious problems connected to public image and his personal life.

The ninth house

Ninth house is connected to religion, spirituality, higher knowledge, wisdom, fortune, philosophy, favors from government, righteousness and kingdom. This house is weak and shows that Arvind kejriwal gives scant attention to everything that is mentioned above.

Ninth Lord Saturn is Neech in the Lagna as well as Navansh chart. Additionally it is placed in the twelfth house of loss, misfortunes, imprisonment, inferiority complex and self undoing. Saturn is not favorable at all and tends to eclipse his career. It is this 12th house placement of Saturn that did not allow Arvind kejriwal to rise in the hierarchy of his job as an Income Tax officer.

Saturn becomes the lord of both ninth and tenth houses and in a politician’s chart this is the last place one wants his ninth and tenth lord to be.

The tenth house

The tenth house represents kingdom, ruling powers, government, governance, reputation and fame. This is the most important house in a politician’s chart. It is absolutely imperative that this house and its Lord be very strong. If both these conditions are not met the person will not be able to attain power; in case he does grab it he won’t retain it for long.  The tenth house in Arvind Kejriwal’s chart is really weak with just 372 units of strength. The tenth lord Saturn is also weak as it is placed in the twelfth house and in Janma and Neech in Navamsa chart.

The situation prevalent in the ninth and tenth houses does not generate much hope for the political future of Arvind kejriwal.

Discussion of Dashamsha chart

Dashamsha chart or D-10 is the most important divisional chart when assessing the profession of an individual. Tenth house denotes the highest level a man can rise to while D-10 gives an insight into the promises of the tenth house. One can call D-10 an X-ray of the tenth house. When analyzing D-10 we look at the placement of Lagna lord and tenth lord in Dashamsh chart. We then look at the Lagna and tenth lord of the Dashamsh chart. Finally we look at Sun and Saturn which represent the ruling and serving classes.

Venus the Lagna Lord is placed in the twelfth house in D-10 along with Neech Jupiter. This is a definite problem right there that restricts the growth of career. Saturn the tenth lord in the birth chart is placed in Neech state along with Rahu in the third house in D-10. This indicates a sudden shock and an end to the career in politics.

The Lagna Lord of D-10 is Saturn and as said above is placed Neech with Rahu. This is a really bad situation for Arvind kejriwal. The tenth lord of D-10 is Mars and it is placed in Neech awastha in the sixth house of the Dashamsha chart. This does not show any rise in career.

In D-10 Sun is placed in the seventh house in its own house. This indicates that Arvind kejriwal shall remain in politics as a nominal figure for some time. Saturn is placed Neech and indicates that people will become disillusioned with him rather soon and his following shall decline.

The last elections  took place on seventh February 2015. The Dasha Bhukti running that day was Jupiter-Sun-Ketu-Ketu-Ketu. Jupiter is a neutral planet for Arvind kejriwal. Sun is favorable as mentioned above and on the polling day was very helpful in getting the votes of the common man for the AAP. Ketu is placed in the fifth house which is ruled by Mercury. Being a shadow planet it acted as Mercury who is the lord of the second and fifth houses. We have analyzed Mercury above and it comes out as a favorable planet. The net result was therefore very satisfying for Arvind kejriwal.

The coming elections in Punjab will be fought in February 2017. The Dasha-Bhukti running at that time is Jupiter-Mars-Mercury and runs from 20/1 to 9/3/2017. Jupiter is not very helpful. Mars is decidedly unfavorable, while Mercury is somewhat favorable. Arvind kejriwal’s performance will be lackluster in Punjab. All the projections of a huge win will be denied. The story however does not end there. Jupiter-Rahu begins on 7/7/2017 and runs until 18/11/2019. Rahu is connected to Neech Saturn in Chalit and Dashamsha chart. This period shall see a steady unraveling of AAP until the end of 2019. Saturn Mahadasha begins on 18/11/2019 and will finish the political career of Arvind kejriwal. There is no doubt about that.

Taurus: Retrograde Saturn aspects the fourth house and the fourth lord Sun to keep mother’s health indifferent. A vehicle is likely to demand an inflated bill for maintenance. Mentally you remain tense as you tackle an unexpected rise in  expenses. Lagna Lord Venus becomes Neech on 26th August and causes domestic strife. Exchange of hot words with close relatives should be avoided as much as possible. The health is not at its best this month.

Gemini: Mercury transits the third house along with Rahu and forces you to waste your energy chasing elusive targets. Income is likely to dip but the situation improves after Mercury becomes exalted in Virgo on 19th August. This triggers new sources of income and meeting with new and helpful people. By the month end  you are humming along nicely.

Cancer: Transit of Sun through Cancer creates some health issues for the first two weeks. Differences of opinion with friends and dear ones are more than likely and should be handled carefully. 11th August onward, Ninth lord Jupiter transits Virgo  and blesses you with domestic happiness. Children related news makes you happy. If expecting a child this could be the month. For others, their children do very well.

Leo: Presence of Jupiter in this sign at the beginning of the month brings partial success in planned projects. Your mind remains involved with spiritual and religious pursuits. Professionally this is a month of accomplishments. Sun enters Leo on 16th August and gives health wealth and happiness. You spend on amusements and gadgets to make your life happier.

Virgo: Jupiter enters this sign for one year on 11th August and right away causes an all round improvement in the situation. Your thoughts turn to spirituality and religion. A job promotion that was stuck for a while finally comes through. Some slack in income is likely. Venus enters Virgo and becomes Neech. This causes sadness and strife with your life partner.

Libra: Rashi Lord Venus transits the 11th house along with Rahu until 25th August. This brings about an improvement in the prevailing situation. Your hard work and efforts are rewarded with increased income. You spend money on luxuries and good things of life. Enhanced status is very likely. Saturn transits through the last phase of Sade Sati and creates a sense of dissatisfaction.

Scorpio: Rashi Lord Mars in the Ascendant along with Saturn causes new plans and projects to take shape in your mind. You come in contact with new people and your efforts are rewarded with success. The second half causes expenses on some auspicious activity or function. You are advised to keep aggression and anger under strict control as it has the potential to undo a lot of what you can achieve.

Sagittarius: You are in the beginning of Sade Sati which keeps you tense, causes domestic strife and induces arguments with friends and siblings.  Financial gains are mediocre despite hard work but expenses remain high. Jupiter in the 10th house after 11th August  generates needless running around and wasted efforts that achieve very little.

 

Capricorn: Despite extra hard work, financial situation remains tense. 11th August onward Jupiter’s Neech aspect on this Rashi brings adverse situations in your way that are hard to negotiate. Professionally this is a very busy month. Unwarranted and sudden expenses may cause dismay. Keep relentless track of your diet, life style, money and efforts.

Aquarius: Jupiter’s own aspect on Sagittarius Rashi in the 11th house boosts income and brings about something auspicious to happen. Comforts of new clothes, real estate and vehicles are also available now. Your religious and spiritual aspirations become strong and you may spend money on charity and pilgrimage.

 

Pisces: Jupiter aspects its own Rashi in Lagna and makes you spend time and money in spiritual and religious activities. A steady cooperation from family proves very helpful. Mercury moves to Virgo in the 7th house and aspects Lagna. This may cause some mental tension and indifferent health. A secret worry will gnaw at your mind.

How effective is Daily horoscope?

For astrology buffs getting daily predictions becomes an addictive practice. The million dollar question is, whether like all addictions; does it have any real value?

Vedic astrology which is without any doubt the most ancient method of prediction and goes back atleast twelve thousand years – if not more – gives very accurate predictions on yearly, monthly, weekly and daily basis.

Broadly speaking, a person’s horoscope is made using the date, place and time of birth. This data is used to fix the placement of planets in a chart. It is just like pointing a camera at the sky and taking a snap shot of all stars and planets.

If we really did take a snapshot it will bring in a great deal of superfluous data which we don’t need. After all we need the position of only nine planets. It is for this reason that a chart has twelve houses and nine planets in Vedic astrology.

When we want to fix a point on the earth, we need the longitude and latitude of that place as accurately as possible. When we want to fix a point in time we use Dasha or period of the planet in operation and along with it we use the position of the transiting planets.

Let us understand this with an analogy. If I simply say that I am in my home, I am not giving complete information about myself. If I also provide the place in the home occupied by me, I am clarifying my position a lot more. My place in bed room, dining room, living room, toilet or my small garden gives an accurate assessment of my activities and frame of mind.

By using the placement of the planet in the birth chart in tandem with the current position of the same planets in the sky very accurate predictions are made. Daily horoscope is not a biggie for Vedic astrology.

In an individual chart it is very possible to find what to expect on a daily basis because we have the exact data of Dasha and Transit. In an article published in a magazine it is impossible to provide any true information. In absence of an accurate birth chart only generalizations can be made. These may be sweet sounding but are definitely inaccurate.

Ninety percent of predictions made in press or media are based on solar horoscope signs, which firmly put them in the realm of pure fiction. It is for this reason that they resemble white candy floss. There is too much volume, very little substance.

Honestly speaking, daily horoscope also called ‘Horoscope For Today’ should provide real and quality content and not fictitious assumptions. Alas it is done every day and will continue to do.

Vedic astrology is a combination of science and art and in the hands of an expert a very reliable method of prediction. It gives not only the general trends operating in a person’s life but also gives exact date and time to start something new.

Retrograde planets in Hindu Vedic Astrology

 

Retrograde planets are those planets that appear to move backwards. Except Sun and Moon, all planets including Rahu and Ketu have retrograde motion from time to time. Rahu and Ketu mostly have backward motion compared to others but during retrogression they appear to move forward like other seven planets.
In reality, the planet is not moving backwards only appearing to do so. We can relate it to the experience when we overtake a slow moving car on a highway. As we accelerate past the car, it appears to be moving backwards even though it is not. This illusion can be compared to retrogression.

All planets give their best results when away from Sun. Proximity to Sun reduces their beneficial effects. When they come within 12° of Sun they are called Ast or combust. Such planets lose all capacity for doing good.
Astronomically, retrogression of a planet can happen only when it is closest to earth (and farthest from Sun). Since a retrograde planet is closest to earth its effect on life on earth is at its peak. This is why in Vedic astrology a retrograde planet is given the same importance as an exalted planet (Uchha Grah).

Mantreshwar the celebrated writer of Phaldeepika opines that a retrograde planet gives the results of an exalted planet even when it is placed in an enemy sign or sign of debilitation. Saravali differs somewhat and stresses that malefic retrograde planets cause fruitless journeys, miseries and aimless wanderings. This can be the subject of a research because the Cheshta Bal of a planet is maximum when it is retrograde.

It is seen that a Retrograde Yog Karak Saturn gives very good results during its Dasha-Bhuktis. However if Saturn is placed in Lagna, its results can be quite unfavorable. Retrograde Jupiter and Mercury in Lagna will give good results. Retrograde Venus in the fourth house will also give better results.
Retrograde planets give their results from the house they are placed in but they also give their results from the preceding house as well. For example if Retrograde Jupiter is placed in the seventh house then he will give the results of being placed in the sixth house as well.

For the results of a house to be available, it is essential that the Dasha or Bhukti of that house lord be going on. The Dasha or Bhukti of a planet associated or aspecting that house lord will also bring about the desired results. These results will however be available only when Jupiter and Saturn have both aspected the house or the house lord with in a period of one year either in the direct or retrograde motion. Jupiter blesses an event and Saturn gives the permission for it to happen. When all these conditions are met the event occurs.


If a retrograde planet is placed in its exaltation sign, it ceases to give its exalted results and begins to act as a planet in fall.
The Bhukti of a retrograde planet in the Maha Dasha of Rahu or Ketu, usually brings about the restoration of losses incurred earlier. Money given as loan and written off as a loss may be recovered during this period. Same is true of the Maha Dasha of a retrograde planet and Bhukti of Rahu.
In Prashna Shastra or Horary astrology, retrograde planets play a different role. If a retrograde planet closely aspects Lagnesh or Karyesh, it leads to failure of the Prashna. If the aspect is not close on Lagnesh or Karyesh, it indicates hindrances for the person asking questions.
If the retrograde planet is a benefic and lord of fifth or ninth house in the Prashna chart, and it is related somehow to Lagnesh or Karyesh it indicates the repeat of an action or process. In a marriage alliance it can indicate a renewed vigor after some cooling period. It usually leads to successful completion.
If a malefic planet becomes the lord of an auspicious house the events mentioned above will happen but with obstacles and mental tension.
Whether benefic or malefic, ownership of sixth, eighth or twelfth houses by retrograde planets is unfavorable. If they own these houses they should not be related in any way to Lagnesh or Karyesh.
